Billionaire media mogul Oprah Winfrey declined to be drawn into a discussion of Donald Trump during her appearance on The Van Jones Show on March 11, 2018.

Jones gave Oprah several chances to discuss the Trump presidency. She deflected each attempt. Her refusal came a day after Trump told a crowd during a political rally in Pennsylvania that he “wished Oprah would run” for President in 2020. Trump told the crowd that he knows “her weaknesses.”

Oprah stated at the outset of the Jones’ show that she was not a candidate for president. When she would not take several baited questions and throw a punch back at Trump, Jones asked her if she had an opportunity to speak with Trump, what would she say to him.

Oprah stated that she “would only speak in a situation where I would be heard.”

Van Jones left the subject right there, but came back at the end of the program when Oprah said in the future she was leaning into the dream that the universe had for her in the beginning of life. Jones chimed in that she should lean into the White House.

Still no commitment from Oprah, as the program came to a close.
