I could easily have highlighted this entire piece because each paragraph is a potent indictment of the fairy tales American media tells it audience. Also, as a young reporter, I worked for the Birmingham World, known affectionately as "The World" by Blacks in Birmingham. It was a subsidiary of the Atlanta Daily World and was printed at the ADW offices in Atlanta. When we put the paper to bed, we would rush down to the Greyhound Bus Station and ship it to Atlanta on the last bus of the night. I've been telling our story for a long time, and you are so right, without our perspective, the truth does not get told.
